“‘Japan was on the line.’ ‘That was certainly a highlight in this phone’s life,’ she said, and took the receiver from my hand.”

It's true that time goes faster the older you are, Selma thought, and felt that this wasn't a very good arrangement. Selma wished that her sense of time would grow old with her, that it would develop a limp, but the opposite was true.
Selma's sense of time behaved like a racehorse.

I’m…. Confused by this book. Maybe something got lost in translation, but this felt disjointed and too quirky. Some parts resonated, but most of the time I was confused about why certain things were happening. And I couldn’t connect with hardly any of the characters because they seemed very one dimensional. I enjoyed the themes/some of the ideas explored but not the reading experience.
