The start was fantastic but lost me toward the end. It doesn’t go where you think it goes at all and leaves plenty on questions unanswered. I hate

happy endings

especially unrealistic ones, like so that tainted it for me.

This book is super fast paced from the beginning. Every chapter keeps you guessing at what will happen next. The gore is pretty tame in my opinion. It was a great fast and easy read.

Trim the page count down to 200, focus only on the couple from the beginning and deepen each of them beyond the machinations of the plot. If all of this had happened I would have been onboard with where this story went, lackluster ending and all. As it stands now though, I’m amazed that a book this fast-paced and violent can be so dull and nondescript. When you finally get to the shoulder shrug that encompasses the final chapter and epilogue you wonder if anything much happened at all. No thanks.
