Plot was kinda intresting, but felt no connection or reason to keep reading as the character wasn't having any progression...even when, from an outside perspective, they were. Kept showcasing the same message, but not in the way of foreshadowing or repetition in an attempt to make us have a deeper connection.
2.5 / 3⭐️ = would defo recommend to audiences of specific ages & reading tastes. I'm just not one of them

I loved this! Usually, faerie books aren't my favorite, I feel like the mythology overwhelms the plot, but in this case they were tied together really well! I liked that it felt like October was a real person, interacting with the world of faerie how a real person would, which enhanced the reading experience. The plot was great, the side characters were fresh, overall a good start to a series.

I liked it a lot more the second time. It helped knowing that Toby was going to grow-up. Not sure why I disliked it so much the first time. It's pretty obvious that the bad things about Toby are all related to what she's gone through and that she's realizing she can't stay the way she is.
