I'm so glad I read this. This is a story I will probably think about and reference for forever. The irony of the story is addicting, and I didn't want to put it down! Short, sweet, enjoyable. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for any of those characteristics. Also, this was a book I read for school! It's so very rare that I enjoy school assigned books.

Wanted to see if I can tolerate this play again after having been forced to read it like 900 times in my academic career and the answer is no, I cannot do that yet, so 3 stars is what it gets, blame my profs......... it does slap tho, I will not lie, I just can only think of writing assignments/essays/reports on it or including it when I read it now ughhhh

Read this in high school, but images from the book have stuck with me over the years. The ending is so weird and perverse--I'm amazed they allow teenagers to read this. It's fitting that there's a complex named after it. The Greeks were interested in exploring the darker aspects of the human psyche, but within a framework that made it palatable: "He didn't realize what he was doing!"

This play, and pardon my language, is f***ed up. I love it because it is so strange and the turn of events is so mind-blowing. This is the definition of a dysfunctional family, which makes it interesting and the play is surprisingly accessible considering it was written over 2500 years ago!

i mean.. i know what an oedipus complex is now, so i guess i gained something from this!
