It was a simple book and pretty straight forward. I like the element of the book written like a play. There was lots of foreshadowing. It was nice to read a short story.

am Anfang ziemlich viel Geschwafel und nicht wirklich Handlung, aber gegen Ende rast sie dann vorbei.

Lieblingssatz: "Drum blicke man auf jenen Tag, der zuletzt erscheint, und preise keinen, der da sterblich, selig, eh er denn zum Ziel des Lebens durchgedrungen, ohne dass er Schmerz erlitt."

I didn’t really enjoy the story (though it was required reading for school, so that might have impacted my opinion of it), but it was also just a little confusing for me to read. I don’t enjoy reading plays in general, and that on top of the fact that the characters talk in a way that’s difficult for me to understand just made it hard for me to enjoy.

If anything's a classic, it's 'Oedipus Rex'. I have yet to meet someone who doesn't at least know the general plot of this story. Part of the reason why I absolutely love reading Greek and Roman plays and poems is the idea that people knew these exact same stories thousands of years ago. That just adds a whole other layer of enjoyment for me. I am completely in love with the classical world and often wish I had been born then (although from a pratical point of view, it probably wouldn't have been very pleasant to live as a woman back then) and these stories make me feel connected to that period in time.

I really loved this, I mean not the story so much, but the writing and the complete idiocy of Oedipus is just entertaining. Greek shit just blows me away every time. I think I kinda love tragedies, they are just so dramatic and I'm here for it.
