DOWN A TWISTED PATH introduces us to Patrick and Jono three years before the start of A FERRY OF BONES & GOLD. Patrick has just left the Mage Corp and Jono meets Merek for the first time and is tempted into coming to the US. There's not much world building because it's pretty short but it's a nice introduction to our MCs and shows how they both want to find some peace and acceptance.

Just a bit of the beginning of Patrick leaving the Mage Corps and joining the SOA and Jono meeting Marek and leaving London!!!

3 stars - I liked it
This prequel takes place three years prior to the start of the series and introduces us to Patrick Collins and Jonothan de Vere. We learn briefly about why Patrick is leaving the Mage Corps and joining the Supernatural Operations Agency. Jonathan is a god pack alpha werewolf who is trying to join a pack and has been asked to move to NY to manage a bar, and potentially find his pack there.
I think this was a great introduction to the world. I found this to be a very fascinating world so far and really want to learn more about it and these two characters.
Trigger Warnings: death of fellow soldiers briefly mentioned
Minor: Death

A very interesting look into Patrick and Jono's life before they meet. Love them. Patrick needs to be taken care of ASAP.

Cute teaser. The Jono bit is better than the Patrick bit, if only because the Patrick bit lacks the despair I’d have expected at this stage, based on the story in the full novel (it’s lightly referenced but this is overall too cheery, imo).
