I loved the use of mythical creatures as a mirror/allegory for real-world racism, but the story itself felt thin and unfocused. Characters who were meant to come across as sympathetic (or at least complicated) felt unlikable to me.

This book was a beautiful tribute to sisterly love, the two main characters were so supportive and loving toward each other. On top of that, I thoroughly enjoyed the fantasy elements. I think the author did a great job of weaving them into the modern day context!
