I know I am the weirdo here, but I truly struggled to finish this book. If you’re into science with a dash of fiction, by all means grab this book right now.

Honestly, I cannot be bothered to write anything else about a book I never wa t to think about again.

The end.

The overarching plot is interesting but I kept getting bogged down by the physics explanations.

I was really excited to read this. I'm horrified that it's taken so long for any of this author's works to be translated into English, and I hope publishers will take this as a first step in looking outside of their normal boundaries so we can all expand our horizons.

This is a really dense, complex story. It really pulled me in, even though there were a few times I felt like my brain was getting fried a little. It's a very different take on first contact than I'd ever read before, and Liu Cixin definitely knows how to play the long game.

Very brainy, but hard to put down once I would pick it up. Cool plot, interesting sci-fi but a liiiittle more "brain on" than I'd like at times

I thought the book was fun to read, but as someone who is an aerospace engineer there were a lot of moments where my suspense of disbelief were broken by bad science. If you want a fun, science-y read then it's a great book! But if you're looking for something on the lines of the Expanse or Red Mars in terms of science, then you may want to look elsewhere. There were also a lot of questionable beliefs held by characters that I just couldn't see happening, and there was also a lot of hand-waving solutions to problems. I would say that this is more geared towards young adults-early college age adults.
