The illustrations are fresh and bright to reflect the fresh fruity drinks. I loved the beginning of the story - hearing about how the mother loved the drinks as a child and seeing them making the drink was fun. After that, the story fizzled a bit. There was no real tension and it started to seem that it was only a book to teach something.

I would have liked a specific recipe to follow at the end, but I did find a few recipes online that look promising. http://www.latina.com/food/recipes/aguas-frescas-recipes I will have to give them a try sometime.

The story is okay, but I wouldn't think children would want to read it more than once unless parents always paired it with making some aguas frescas.
