Sloane and Lucian have hated and lusted after each other for years. No one knows what happened between them. But the both know they can’t keep putting their friends in the middle of their feud. But how can they move on when they won’t let go? Let’s find out!

Read if you like: spicy romcoms, shared secrets, childhood crush to lovers, girl/boy next door, complex and hilarious friend groups, crime drama, gang threats, cold cases, unknown danger, hate to love, huge amounts of personal growth, sassy librarians, corporate fixers with a Robin Hood complex.

Lucian is haunted by what his father did to his family and he’s been on a personal quest to become so powerful that no one remembers the past. He has everything he needs but not everything he wants. Sloane is one of the few people who know Lucian’s truth, but her past betrayal of trust left their life in pieces. Sloane has pushed forward and created a wonderful life and a fantastic library for her town. Except for a tall, dark, and grouchy shadow that just won’t quit. These two might not be able to trust each other but their past won’t let them give up either. Dealing with lust, grief, the past, and death threats might not be everyone’s path to love… but it’s theirs.

We’re back in Knockemout for the long-awaited story of Lucian and Sloane! I’m so in love with this town and the characters who call it home and TWLB promised to be spicy and action packed and it delivers. This grumpy/sunshine trope is quelled by their absolute hatred of each other. So, there’s no sunshine when they’re together only a snarling mess. So much banter! So much flirting through insults. So much angst and chemistry. And so much history, respect, and love. I adore their journey.

The book also continues the same crime drama storyline from the other two books along with some surprises and twists that you don’t see coming. It also allows several characters to connect in ways that wouldn’t be possible without all the drama. There are a lot of layers and moving parts to the story but everything unfolds in a great balance of romance, action, and family. And as always, we get to see what the rest of the crew is up to which is an utter delight. This one really got me with some themes of family grief and the epilogues were perfection. A lot of tough topics are covered with many feels to be had Trigger warning for domestic violence.

DID NOT FINISH

I don’t enjoy her writing. I don’t like how she changes the character from the hero and heroine

okkk this book was by far my favourite book in the series. Maybe it was the way I already loved Sloane and Lucian from the first book OR THE WAY THEY LOVED EACH OTHER.

Bro the way Lucian ABSOLUTELY adored her made me swoon SO BADLY, like bro was saying so many right things i wish I was Sloane.

SLOANE IS MY BABYYYYYYYYY i love her 1000000000%. shes the best sorry not sorry I don't make the rules.
