Well, at least I read this at this time of year, not in spring when we're likely to have snow. Blazing sunshine would be better, but for some reason Red Eye decided to release this book in winter. I'm sure I don't know why.

I genuinely had to pile on an extra blanket as I read this, the cold was so well described. I could see a minor plot twist coming...I'm surprised the characters didn't, actually...but I totally missed the cliffhanger ending twist, and I sincerely hope Gabriel revisits this story another time. I'd love to know what happened to the survivors.

A great read, perfect for long, cold, snowy nights.

Receiving an ARC did not affect my review in any way.

"Look at all this snow. It's like Narnia out there. You think they'll let us out tomorrow?"
Nico shrugged. It sounded more and more as if the lifts would be shut, the resort closed and skiing pretty much off the table for the rest of the trip. He had spent his sixteen years coming to terms with the fact that he was rubbish at all sports, and he had discovered this week that skiing was no exception to that rule. All the same, he didn't want to imprisoned inside for the rest of the trip with the rugby boys for company, or lose out on the few days skiing he had left.
The teachers, hunched over their beer and wine around a small table in a far corner of the room, looked to be equally dejected. Mr Down looked half-drunk, Mr Potter looked exhausted and Mrs Newman just looked her plain old miserable sef. Maybe, Nico thought, they just wanted to go home.
A gasp went up as the wind shook the glass of the window panes and the lights above their heads rattled and flickered.
Nico glanced at his phone once again.
Nothing.
It was going to be a long night.

Chilling in more ways than one, this is a brilliantly tense horror debut. I can't wait to see what Gabriel writes next!

Ending really makes it !
The book is great I was more invested in the romance between hanna and Charlie than the actual story but I still really enjoyed it!
Ending blows it out of the water !
Very creepy stuff, however it’s totally a rip off of 30 days of night.

The 6th book I've read in the Red Eye series of young adult horror books. While not my favorite story, I think it's a pretty decent addition to the anthology.

Compared to the others I've read this is very fast-paced. The action gets started very early and the book is then a race to the finish filled with blood, gore, and mystery.

I wouldn't describe this book as very scary, while there is a lot of blood, the pace of it leaves little room for any tension. The monsters of the story are an interesting interpretation of a certain fantasy creature. It was interesting learning about the creatures, I think the design was interesting and I enjoyed how they were

I think all the characters were good and enjoyable to read. There is a main protagonist but the book jumps to the perspectives of a few of the characters, offering their insights and backgrounds on what's happening. It becomes very apparent that not all of them will see the end, while I understood that from the start there were a few deaths I thought were unnecessary or unearned in the narrative, which was a little bit of a disappointment.

Overall I think this was a good addition to the series and I would recommend it.

Other Red Eye series books I'd recommend. Any by Alex Bell, my favorites are The Lighthouse or Frozen Charlotte. Also, Fir by Sharon Gosling is a great read.

A good teen horror. Isolated ski resort, monsters and some mild gore. A good story, was able to read for long periods without being bored. These books are a good brain cleanser. Especially if you have been reading some intense story before.
I recommend this to teenagers or adult who enjoy a mild horror story.
