I received this ebook from the author/ publisher for review. I thought The Friend Faceboff was a cute fall read.

I liked the storyline and the romance between Dawson and the main girl character.

I liked how there wasn't really a big third act drama especially with an important identifying moment we had.

I liked the Easter egg that was revealed at the
end of the book. This was a five star rating.

I have so many mixed emotions about this book. Dawson was an absolute sweetheart and I loved him so much. He is quite literally every girl’s dream man. I enjoyed that Emmy’s family was supportive including her brother, instead of how usually the brother’s best friend trope goes. I also really appreciated that there was no third act break up.
Unfortunately, Emmy was insufferable. She came up with excuses that didn’t even make sense and she almost seemed embarrassed to be with Dawson. He’d do sweet things for her and she’d get mad. And honestly she just treated him badly throughout the entire book. It was such an odd way to portray her character since she was really nice in the other books. Also the conversations with Gold Dog just continuously made me cringe. I wish that wouldn’t have been part of the book at all. Also there were way too many references to Travis Kelce and TikTok.

I can’t wait to get back to Maple Falls when the next book releases but unfortunately this one just fell flat for me.

Thank you Grace Worthington and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review

Emmy loves her hockey romance books, and she's convinced that books are always better than reality. Dawson, hockey goalie and Emmy's brother's best friend, is set to prove her wrong.

A new book in the Love on Thin Ice series, which can be read as a standalone. The female protagonist works in a bookstore and has an anonymous TikTok account where she posts about books. The male protagonist is a goalie and for some reason I've always had a soft spot for those. The setting couldn't be better and I'm happy that it met my expectations!

"I open it and inhale the glorious scent of fresh paper and ink. New book smell is like crack for readers."

I love the messages Emmy and Dawson send to each other without knowing who's at the other end! Dawson proves to be truly insightful - and he reads! Definitely book boyfriend material!

“There are a thousand ways to win against me. Everybody has a weak spot, Emmy. You happen to be mine.”

It's really hard to resist him and I completely understand when Emmy cracks.

“Emmy, I want to be the guy who supports you in your dreams. I don’t want you to sit on the sidelines anymore.”

An easy to read romance with hockey on the side, based in a charming small town during autumn; it doesn't get any better than that!

Fun story of brother's best friend/dating pact/friends reunited with a side of hockey. I loved Dawson and how he cared for Emerson throughout the story. Such a sweet romantic heart. A fun addition to the love on thin ice series, a multiauthor series set in a small town. Pick this up ASAP!

Love the frenemies to more vibes this one started off with! Worthington's books always make me so happy. I love the light and happy story that has the perfect amount of depth. The flow and pace of this one is wonderful!

I loved Emmy and Dawson so very much! He was a great protective hero but also a cinnamon roll! Dawson was the perfect blend of manly man and sweet and caring. He was straight forward and honest with Emmy about his feelings from the beginning and I liked that. Emmy is sweet and loyal, but has been burned before. She suffers under her obligation to helps others but Dawson shows her that she can do that and still follow her dreams. Loved how the characters opened up as the story unfolded. The fun settings and stories added so much to the story and who doesn't love a motorcycle scene as well as a Fall Fest scene!

This was such a fun, fall read and it definitely got me ready for the fall season! Loved the town of Maple Falls and can't wait to read more of this multi-author series.

This romance novel is a perfect fall hockey romance, for any brother’s best friend, small town, sport romance. Emmy and Dawson’s love story is an addictive and heartwarming one to read. Emmy is a bookstore worker, who spends her time posting videos on booktok and caring for her grandma, she is not convinced she’ll ever find romance in her real life just like it’s written in her favourite romance novels but Dawson is ready to prove to her love can be real, and he reads!!

This read was enjoyable, addictive and amazing. The pacing was perfect, with mix-media text conversation. The characters are lovable, from the old ladies in town to the hockey team to Emmy and her friend.

The romance is just perfect, really made me smile and spend a lovely rainy day reading this in ONE sitting. I would recommend this to everyone, you enjoyed Icebreaker but want something closed door, with less spice, this is perfect for you.

Dawson didn’t just convince Emmy that romantic men also exist outside books but he convinced me as well. The ending is hopeful and light-hearted. I am excited to follow the rest of the series, with the other hockey players.

Please read this book this fall, during a rainy day with some nice hot chocolate and a warm blanket this is all you need to bring a smile to your face.

Loved this one! Fake dating and a brother's best friend! I thought the banter would be sassier, but it was designed to be a super sweet heart-melting romance!

Grace is amazing and I love her books so much 💖

This is a really fun hockey story that is based loosely around that you’ve got mail story. It has a brother’s best friend also.
Dawson agrees to come to Maple Falls for the charity tournament with the icebreakers, where he intentionally reconnects with his friends sister Emmy. She works in a bookstore and becomes a sonic about romance. Online friend challenges her to tell him why she’s so cynical and how someone would be the perfect man. let’s just say Dawson sticks to his promises and is out to make sure that Emmy knows the truth.
I absolutely adore Dawson in this book and I love how into books he gets trying to prove people wrong. When he shows up to book club with 100 sticky notes…🥰 let’s just say he never backs down for a challenge and he’s out to prove it to Emmy.

A heartwarming second chance romance between Dawson and Emmy on their way to finding their own HEA and realizing their dreams.  Another cute Icebreakers story.

As a ravenous reader, I’ve got a secret: I’m obsessed with hockey romances”

The Friend Face Off by Grace Worthington is a book in the cozy hockey romance series Love on Thin Ice, an interconnected standalone series in which all takes places at a charity hockey tournament in the small-town Maple Falls. In each book the story is about a different couple, but all the other characters appear as well.

I have read two books already in this great series, and I loved them a lot. This book, The Friend Face Off, is even better! From the very first line I loved this book and I could not wait to read further. Maybe because I could identify myself with Emmy, who is a Booktokker and hides her identity. She loves books, works in a bookshop and feels that real men are totally different that the men in books, who are always perfect. Enter Dawson Hayes, a hockey goalie, who is in town for the tournament.

This book is such a great book! I could not stop reading, but at the same time I did not want the story to end. Both Emmy and Dawson are great characters and you root for them to be together. I loved how this tough goalie was also kind hearted and empathic. He does everything to convince Emmy that real men can be like book boyfriends. Some events were just so romantic.

The writing style is great, flowing and I loved the dual POV from Emmy and Dawson. There is also some kind of mystery and I got a feeling where this was going. At the end this came about and I loved that!

And I just loved the Easter Egg, mentioned at the end, the map of Maple Fall and all the descriptions of the characters in all the books. Needless to say, I followed up on the Easter Egg (you have to read the book to know what I mean).

The Love on Thin Ice series I have come to love from the first book. I loved how the authors made up this world, with tough hockey players, their very likable love interests, in a small-town setting, and with a flowing writing style which makes you go on reading. Each book is a joy to read and I can totally recommend this series. Each book is a standalone, so you can start whatever book you like.

Highly recommended!
