As many have mentioned before, the worst part avout this book is that there is not more of it.

The book tackles some rather compex topics in what I feel is an accessible and easy to understand way. The vocabulary isn't overly complex, each idea is very well developed and explained. You don't need to know the greek poems that come up through the book for the comparison and explanations to make sense. Mary Beard does an excellent job of explaining the struggle of womeb to reach and stay in power.

Very interesting essay but I'm not sure there's enough content that it merited standalone publishing.

Since the dawn of history, in myth, tragedies,  comedies, in art, women have been deprived of their voice, have been denied public presence, have been diminished to cows and dogs, and pigs, having voices that pollute and insult the men. We women, have tried to change the nature of our voice and our presence so we could be heard and taken seriously.
It's time we reclaimed our voices, our place in history, our place in positions of (true) power. It's time we made men respect us, hear us and treat us as equals. Whether they like it or not.
