This one wasn't quite as good as the first book in this series, and I struggled to connect to Raven in the beginning. After the first chapter, I fell into the story and then I couldn't put it down, though. I know it says that it can be read as a stand alone, but I think it will be better enjoyed if it's read in the series order because of the overall story line. I loved the fast pace, the adventure and sense of danger, and all the sexiness, and I do recommend it. If you are struggling like I did, just keep reading because it will click and then you'll be hooked.

Jabari and Raven's story is the second book in this series. I imagine it can be read as a standalone. I actually feel like the background information you get from book 1, only serves to enhance the story in this book.

The romantic element of this book definitely did not make an appearance at the beginning. The sense of romance didn't begin to creep into the storyline for me until after the zoo incident.

This was a pretty fast paced story with a strong sci fi element to it. There is also a strong theme of nature, biology, and environmental issues woven into the storyline.

The corruption, dissension, controversy, divisiveness, and conflict was so reminiscent of current events it was difficult to get into the story at first. As Raven searched for a scientific resolution to the Breeds genetic issues, I got caught up in the story.

Full of suspense, intrigue, mystery, and action, this tale of Jabari and Raven held my attention until the reached their HEA.

I voluntarily read and reviewed the Advance Reader Copy of this book received via Booksprout.
