I am nothing short of infatuated with this series. The story, the art, the lettering - it's all incredible.

I've dubbed the art style "lounge noir", though I'm sure there's an existing name for it. The books themselves are truly gorgeous. Really fantastic with the dust jackets off as well.

If you're normally a library person, this is one series that I recommend you consider buying instead. Apparently there is/will be an omnibus available, but if you can find the individual hardcovers they are worth every penny.

I like Parker. One day I will have to track down and read the novels these are adapted from.

Darwyn Cooke's art never disappoints. The Parker series was made for Cooke's art style and vice versa. It is just a shame that with Cooke's death, there will be no more of these...

These are so great!

I read the Parker novels when I was in my teens. They were all pretty good. Really fast-paced, filled with action. They really felt like a heist movie but with all the bullshit a teen Pete wouldn't have cared about. Less focus on the dissolving marriage between a casino owner and his wife, more talk about modifying a Volkswagen Beetle to outrun a cop car.

These graphic versions are really nice, really stylish adaptations.

Parker is back! This time, it's a lot less personal. That's a shame, because it feels like a lesser story. But, I mean, it's still Darwyn Cooke, so it looks great and is very readable, just not as emotionally or thematically rich as previous outings.

A different style of graphic novel than that of most of my previous experience, but a successful one. The pacing is strong, the use of the format is skillful, and the artistic choice to use simple black and white with tangerine as the only color highlight allows the impact to be in the story and line.

Absolutely fantastic stuff. This is my favorite Parker novel, and the adaptation by Cooke works beautifully. There's some great stuff done with diagrams, and the last few pages are amazing. I love it.

It's gorgeous Darwyn Cooke art (with beautiful duotone coloring) and a suspenseful story.

But....

It's not a lot of Parker. Now to some extent, that may the fault of the book. Given a setup of robbing an entire (small) town with a crew of a dozen, you do have to spend a lot of time introducing characters and providing us with an overview of the scheme. Cooke, in particular, gives us some great insights into Grofield and Wycza. But unlike the first two graphic novels, I didn't get a strong sense of Parker as protagonist.

this is the third volume in Darwyn cookes's adaptation of the parker novels. And just like the previous two this is an exellent work. It seems that those parker stories are very good, clever heist stories. and the way Darwyn cooks has visualised it all makes it even better. You can actually feel the 60's vibe in this book.
