I think if you just read most of the ideas as stand alone sentences, I would actually agree with almost everything Ferrer had to say in this book... I LOVE the emphasis on loving people, standing next to them, and looking for the good in each argument. Great ideas for conversations with your kids. I do want to raise kids who can critically think about every idea(including Christian ones).

However, there were a few inconsistencies that rubbed me a bit wrong (One chapter on how great capitalism is based on one Bible verse, and saying it's not the governments place to step in, immediately leading into the next chapter on how the government needs to stand against abortion...Explanations on stealing language and inflammatory remarks, only to use both against movements she doesn't like, like feminism.

Digging into her resources makes me a bit skeptical as well, some of them I don't love. Personally I don't like that she pushes the ESV because I think a twenty year old word for word translation commissioned and overseen solely by rich white male complementarians isn't as trustworthy as she makes it out to be.

I think it's probably worth the read, with caution because there IS a lot of truth in it. My fear is that fundamental christians who are following a religion and not necessarily following Jesus will use this as confirmation to stay stuck in their ways.

This book isn’t for everyone and I understand that. But for me, trying to find footing with my faith again while also raising children, the topics the book covers are interesting. Though I don’t agree with everything and I really do believe if we just loved one another a lot of good could come from that.. rather than just arguing over our different beliefs....most of the points made are valid enough. there are flaws...and opinions. But seeing as this is a collection of essays, you can glean what you need to from each author. The point is, we are not enough to solve issues and we need to quit pretending that we are with our divided attitudes and media obsessed culture. Cut the crap and get back to basics with our faith and our kids.

3.5 stars. It has some really good information it just covered a lot in one book so I felt I only got surface level information on some of the topics. It was a lot for me but I did like it.

This is such an important book and an excellent introduction to apologetics which is written in such a way that even the most sleep deprived mom will glean much from it! This book has helped ignite my passion of learning more about apologetics and to be more intentional in teaching my children to help them navigate this confusing modern world that they are growing up in. Even though this book is meant for parents, I read several chapters to my kids aloud and we’ve had excellent discussion. Read it and pass it on to as many other Christian parents as you can.

What a great resource!! I especially appreciate the discussion questions at the end of each chapter. This is an excellent book to read, especially if you are new to apologetics....good for any Christian, Mama bear or not.
