Fascinating subject but far too many "may have"s in the writing.
Audio book.
This book is about Sarah Kidd, a “pirates wife”, which is kind of click bait? Understandably, records from the time period aren’t super thorough, so a lot of it is “Sarah probably felt this..” which makes me twitch. Mostly, I just found it boring. I am sure the author did the best she could with the source material, but it lagged for me. Sarah herself didn’t really seem to have any big adventures like the book suggests.

As the “true story”, had several instances of modern thinking and opinions that detracted from the main story.

I cannot pinpoint completely why — the writing style, many word choices, etc. — but, I found this to be off putting. I made it to about 15% (because I’m a weirdo who enjoys pirates) before I returned it to the library.
