Kind of repetitive and felt mostly geared towards struggling mothers. I can see how this would be helpful to that demographic but a lot of the suggestions didn't really vibe with my single, childless neurodivergent self. There were some empowering mantras included throughout but most of the audiobook was difficult to get through.

The book was so good!!!!

The author makes you feel seen and heard. She doesn’t pass judgment on why you might be struggling with keeping your space clean, she’s more focused on how you can maintain yourself and your home without getting overwhelmed. Admittedly, I don’t personally think I keep my house in the cleanest of states, but I also don’t think I struggle very often with not being able to clean either . That being said, I still would like my Home to be in a better state than it is most of the time. The author makes sure that the reader knows that maybe you’re having a stressful time at work, maybe you do have a lot going on so that when you come home, it’s hard for you to stay on top of it. And that’s OK.

She touched on some things and struggles that I don’t personally deal with. For instance, I don’t have a husband or kids, but I do still work and have a social life. She made sure that no matter what state of life you have or what personal things you have that’ll bring you down, you can still relate to the guidance that she’s giving. She gives hacks on how to keep yourself sane in terms of cleaning when you’re having low points, or if you have ADHD, or if you just had a very busy week and I think that they were all very helpful. She constantly telling you to have grace for yourself and everything that you do. The book isn’t a cleaning guide 101 on how to keep your house spotless 24/7 but more so just how to keep your mess manageable whatever that means for you. I felt completely unjudged and at ease the whole time I was reading. I liked that the author gives very real examples of how she’s implementing her own advice in her personal life, and how she herself doesn’t necessarily keep a clean house. It’s just clean enough for her and her functions.

She also has a couple chapters that are more about keeping yourself clean and your hygiene even when you’re feeling depressed. They were so good because I think a lot of times we don’t think about taking care of ourselves along with taking care of our house. She mentioned some hacks on how to demattify your hair if you’ve been too tired to comb it or what to do if you don’t feel like showering. But, what I loved as a black woman, was that she had another black psychiatrist come in and give tips on how to handle black hair care when you’re feeling low or how to come back when you feel like you have no energy to take care of your hair. That was just a small example of how she’s very inclusive to how different lifestyles require different needs.

Overall, the book was perfect. I loved how short the chapters were, and it was very easily digestible. A quick read. 10 out of 10.

*I listened to this book as audiobook narrated by the author.
