The book is pretty good and a fast read- hence my rating of 4 stars. But I found the endings for most of the stories quite weak. I've read other short story collections and enjoyed them much better Eg: "Happiness, Like Water" by Chinelo Okparanta. I feel like short stories are supposed to end with a bang. I'm used to short stories being extraordinary, shocking, disheartening, exhilarating. Not just 'ok'. My fave stories were: 'A Private Experience' , 'The Shivering' & 'The American Embassy'. The rest were good, but not great. Also because I read 'Americanah' before this book, I found some of the characters from both novels a bit similar.

My elder daughter read this for school and has been bugging me to read it, too, and I finally did. Adichie is such a great writer, and although I personally prefer novels or linked short stories, I found each of these stories to be moving and rich snapshots.
