Okay, I think it's official: Karin Slaughter can do no wrong. Another wildly compelling five-star (five+ if it were up to me) read! As much as I love Will Trent and Sara Linton, I am very much here for the Clifton crew. Emmy is another great, complicated female character (no one writes unapologetically raw women like Karin Slaughter) who is great at navigating gray areas. North Falls is an incredible setting with the layers that a small town necessitates. I was unable to predict the next turn at any given point, and was satisfied with the ending (both rare occasions for me!). I am already hungry for #2!

I went into this book completely blind and it did not disappoint! I was invested from page 1 and loved Emmy and especially, Jude! I will certainly be coming back for more in this series.
There is a lot of graphic content and it leaves you sad and heartbroken and you struggle along with Emmy, Cole, Gerald and Jude to understand the violence. The twists are awesome and I am definitely intrigued for the next installment.
