I liked this one better than her first book. It was refreshing to have a main character of this age because she felt just really confident of herself. I liked how Annie’s relationships developed throughout the book with John, the community, and the town.
My main criticism is that I didn’t feel like her relationship with Max was all that fleshed out. Obviously they’d been married for a long time, but every time he came around I just felt impatient with Annie. It was hard for me to understand why she would give him ANY amount of attention. In my head, I knew they shared a history, but I don’t feel like that translated to the page.
Overall, this was a nice read if you like small English villages. And I liked how it encompassed more seasons and holidays than just Christmas.

This book was not exactly what I was expecting… it was better! Wonderfully paced and so descriptive- I felt like I was really there. I wish it didn’t have to end!
