So cozy! So charming!
4 star romcom (which I’ve decided is a different rating scale than my normal rating, but nonetheless…)
I adored the more mature MCs and all of the level-headedness that come with the lens of life experience.
This didn’t follow the traditional romcom story arc, which I also appreciated.
Definitely had a good handful of references that were decidedly English, so I spent some time doing some good old fashioned googling to understand them, but it didn’t distract from my overall enjoyment of this cozy read.

The marketing for this felt misleading. I thought I was reading a winter romance and really it was set mostly in Autumn and it was more about the main character's growth as she leaves her incredibly immature husband. For some reason most of the book was about the ex-husband and how awful he was instead of the male love interest. They did create a Victorian Era book club which I really enjoyed and wanted to join!

Thank you to NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for providing a free ARC in exchange for my honest review.
I loved everything about this book!!! This is a perfect example of why I read romantic comedy, this book had everything I want in this type of story. The setting is picturesque and quaint, the characters are relatable and quirky, and the overall story was fun and engaging. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Jenny Bayliss gives us more tales about the lovely characters of Willow Bay!

This was a nice light-hearted seasonal read. The beach setting during winter was fun. Kind of like a beach read but also a cozy sit by the fire read?! I loved the small town feel with the quirky cast of characters. The ladies in the book club sure were interesting

This is the second book I’ve read in a row that features a woman leaving a toxic relationship, creating a new life for herself with new friends and a new business, and a charming relationship with two characters in their late thirties/early forties. I thoroughly enjoyed both!
Jenny Bayliss has such a picturesque style of writing, and the setting of the classic English seaside town with a tight-knit community was so endearing and heartwarming to read. Throw a love interest reminiscent of a modern-age Mr Darcy in and I’m sold. Not to mention the hilarious book club and raucous laughs and gossip. I did not expect the burst of action near the end and it was an interesting change of pace. A cute, comforting and cosy read.

4.5- this book is so, so charming. It has a delightful cast of characters, fun banter, a cute little town by the sea. It deals with hard things, but safely brings you through to the other side and leaves you feeling warm and light and so happy. I saved it to be a Christmas read, but it is good for anyone at any time.
More like 3.5-3.7. Very cute holiday read, exactly what I was looking for for a cozy Christmas romance. The story was nice, characters lovable. A good choice for those that DONT like their reads spicy
