I read this for a Christmas book and it didn’t really get Christmas-y until the last bit. It was however a decent chic-lit about starting over and seeing that good things can happen if you just take the leap. I found most of the characters pretty endearing. Would be a good late fall/winter read but don’t go in expecting Christmas.

A Season of Second Chances

I decided to read a book for Christmas in July. I had this one on my shelf before Christmas last year but hadn't gotten to it. As much as I LOVE Christmas, I was ready for the break from it, so I shelved the book.

I am so glad I dug this out. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ read for me for sure. I just loved everything about this book.

This book had a bit of everything, I shed some tears, I laughed out loud and I was on the edge of my seat at the end.

I don't like to give too many details so as to avoid any spoilers. But essentially, our main character Annie's marriage breaks down in an awful way. Annie needs to figure out what's next for her, when she comes across an ad in the paper for a winter guardian for a home in the little seaside town of Willow Bay. Mari, the home owner, is older and cannot spend the upcoming winter in the town, it being too hard on her. Annie is exactly what Mari needs and this home and town is exactly what Annie needs. Throughout the story Annie takes on new challenges, ones she wasn't sure she wanted. She really fits into life in this town, making friends easily. But, Mari's nephew isn't too happy about Annie being in his Aunt's home....at first. While this is only supposed to be a short term arrangement, Annie falls in love with the town. But, things are not always simple and she has an uphill battle to make her dreams come true.

I loved all the characters in Willow Bay, they were so well written and they had such depth and warmth (except Annie's ex of course
