I have just done a re-read of this and I'm so glad I did! This duet still has such a hold on me and Kon and Elena are such fantastic characters. I did find Elena to be a little grating in the beginning but I've grown to love her no bullshit personality as I have read on.
I love the way that in all Bree's books the women are so involved in the mafia business and held in as high esteem as the men are. They are intelligent, self assured and get shit done - Elena is no exception. Kon is a fantastic mafia man and the way he silently gets things done is scary in the best way.
I loved the romance, the family aspect and the mystery and I wish there were more mafia romances with this same vibe. The only thing that really let it down for me was the ending.I hate that she couldn't just tell him what was going on and that she chose to keep his child from him even if it was for good reasons. All in all this was an amazing read and completely hooked me in.
