Kingpin’s Foxglove is the first book in The Tarkhanov Empire duology, which is set in the same world as The Rochetti Dynasty trilogy. It follows Elena and Konstantin, who we’ve briefly met in TRD, as they strike a deal after Konstantin takes over Elena’s husband’s territory.

This synopsis alone was more than enough to hook me into their story. Though both these characters were introduced in TRD, it was done in a way that we don’t *actually* know them, and so the readers get to properly know them in their own book, reading from their own perspectives - which I really appreciated.

This was definitely different than most romances. I’m not sure if it fully counts since the HEA didn’t come in this book????

*update, rounded down..
3.5 but I rounded up because I’m feeling generous today. This was interesting for sure. I love science and poisons and mysteries and of course mafia. It was a nice combination. But the twist ending / epilogue did not make any sense. I don’t want to spoil so I won’t go into any details. But she definitely made things harder on herself with her decisions, not easier.
