The plot is driven by two main forces - Connie trying to find her long-lost family, and the girls running from Maggie’s ex-partner who inexplicably hid millions of stolen bank pounds in the oven, which Maggie then took for her trip.
The book would have been infinitely better if the second plot drive was abandoned. Everywhere they went, it loomed like a dull, stressful shadow. And it seemed to literally drive where they decided to go, rather than the girls following their adventurous hearts. Ex-partner “Ringer” often took up more mental space and time on the page than the girls’ friendship or the scenery of their many travels did.
The girls fought, bickered, and put each other down like tweens in a coming-of-age film where the bullying is overdone. I didn’t get the heartwarming vibes.
The story tied up nicely, but that’s about all I can say.

Cute Getaway readers with a bit of Golden Girls and Mama Mia vibes. Fun and easy. Made me want to get my hair done, drink wine and go to Italy.
I created a virtual tour of the places mentioned in the book. I may have missed some or some may not be chronological but here is my best effort:

Enjoy. By the way, some of the places are just gorgeous! Oh, I loved the book and the storyline.

This was a fun easy read! I gave it 4/5 stars because I thought the ending was rushed, but over all a great light hearted read about unexpected friendship and adventure!
An amazing read!
This book is yet another proof to show how age is just a number. Gill, Maggie, and Connie are on a road trip and we are tagged along with them. As they seek new adventures and fall in love and escape a relationship, we are with them every step of the way.
An absolutely delightful book, go read!

This book was so heartwarming! I laughed, I cried, and I cheered these 3 adventurous 70year old ladies on every step of the way! It was easy to see a little bit of myself in each of them, and I can honestly say I hope I am that brave at 70. Such an inspiring lighthearted story, full of quick wit, and memorable characters. I found this to be well written, and so very easy to get swept away into the pages of European landscape descriptions.
Also, now all I want is wine, bread, cheese, and olives.
Thank you to NetGalley, as well as the publisher for providing me with a digital copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

Hilarious, fun to read and full of food for thought. A book perfect for the lazy summer afternoon that gives you more than some fun.
It's well written, with a cast of great characters and it was a very pleasant read.
Highly recommended!
