Started out somewhat repetitive and the characters felt like flat archetypes. However, the novel progresses into a different direction than I expected and lays out some very interesting collisions of magic and science. Long read, but the ideas of the book rumble around in my head even after I've set it down !

An excellent book focusing on characters who are all horrible in their own way but you can’t help but love! The dark academia vibes are spot on and it has all the classic secrets and twists, but the characters are definitely where this book shines. Intrigued the read the second one.

Reading the first pages I didn't have many expectations but I was nicely surprised by the complexity of the characters. Now I am kind of curious about how will the story continue, although the revelation made me feel like the antagonist turned into a simple caricature of a villain (hopefully their motivations and personality will be further explored so they feel more complex and interesting)
