I loved this book. Shelby is such a sweetheart and I loved getting her story, seeing her grow, and seeing her go after what she wanted.

Content: passionate kissing, a couple dozen mild swear words

This was a sweet second chance romance. The reason they broke up initially was silly, but I enjoyed watching them figure it out and come back together. I thought Shelby was a bit of a mess at times, but she was self aware enough to know that she was.

I liked the story. This is a good author. However I was annoyed by all the name dropping of characters from other series was really annoying. I don’t know if I’ve read the books and even if I have I’ve forgotten it all.

I loved the first book in the series, My Not So Wicked Step-Brother, and I was surprised this book followed Shelby. I didn't really love or hate it in the first book. It was slow at the beginning but predictable. I wish there were more scenes of her with Ryder at the beginning to have a bigger pull to the book. I LOVED Bobby Jay. To be honest, I still got the twins confused of who was supposed to be who.

My 2 biggest issues with the book, first one isn't huge just a minor editing mistake. This book is in Shelby's POV and at one point, Shelby walked away from Ryder. Then Peel said that Ryder make a look that said something like he meant this...how would Shelby know that if he walked away. The other I'm still thinking over...in this book the girl friends have their own book club. While I think its clever that Peel inserted one of her books as the book to review, I don't like how it basically was a spoiler alert. Now I don't know if I'm going to even spend time reading it since it was discussed in the book club.

I'll be interested to read the next book in the series.

I tried reading the first three books in this series and this was the only one I made it completely through. I think I liked it because there was a relationship that was built on since Ryder and Shelby had known each other before. But it was also sort of annoying the whole time I was reading it because so much could have been solved had they just talked to each other. Good Lord.
Shelby and Ryland used to know each other. In fact, they used to be engaged. Until a series of unfortunate events broke them up.
Now they are living in the same town again and it is possible that they could get back together. If they'd only talk to each other. But they don't. So we get a whole book of misunderstandings and people hiding feelings and thinking they know what the other person wants.

Fun and clean read. As I read Shelby's dialog I could hear the voice of Ainsley Hayes from The West Wing and it totally made her more real.

I love a good Jennifer Peel novel and My Not So Wicked Ex-Fiance delivers everything I expect from her. Heartache. Romance. And a happily ever after. Even better, the series isn't over! Now to wait patiently for the next one.

I'd give this a 4.5
