Really enjoyed it. A Iot of action, at times perhaps too much. It didn't give me time to breath. Looking forward to book 3.

The writing is still consistently terrible. Tons of cliché sayings such as "lee kept those cards close to his chest," "The crowd grumbled disapprovingly," "eyes became sharp daggers" ; as well as overly-inclusive mixed metaphor descriptions like the following: "Lee regarded Bus who stood like an angered god with his brawny arms crossed over his chest and a deep redness taking over his olive complexion." Not even making that last one up. And The Remaining (Aftermath) is liberally salted and peppered with statements like this.

When (If) D.J. Molles' writing skill catches up with his enthralling action-movie plots, I'm going to be terribly excited to follow this author like a rabid Infected, clawing my way to get my hands on his brain! The last 4th of the book glued my hands to the kindle device and prevented me from dropping it until I finished the book! Lots of action, lots of stuff and things!

And if you'll excuse me, I'm going to get sucked into the third book now.

Definitely entertaining. The first third is a little iffy, but the author hit his stride and it got a lot better.

The Remaining series continues with it being diverting and mildy entertaining without getting me too excited - on to book three!

The first book in the series was kinda poorly written but still entertaining. This one really dragged, so it took me ages to finish it. There's no real development and it feels more like a video game than a novel.

Hmm. It's been exactly 5 years to the day since I finished this book, and I don't remember a single scene. I clearly loved it because I devoured it in 2 days and gave it five stars, but I think reading it so fast contributed to me not remembering a damn thing.

But let me tell you, I did love it. The cover drew me in from the start, and this three dollar bargain book from Hastings was worth it in the end. I just wish I could remember it more. It was the perfect blend of zombies, post-apocalyptic fiction, and military to keep me entertained in a genre that I don't frequently read.

Oddly enough, this one has some strong opinions tied to it, and a big reason for that, I noticed, is because of the military aspect. But given that this is the second book in the series, I don't see why people are surprised. Captain Lee Harden is the epitome of masculinity, and we got a lot of that in the first book. Naturally, that's not going to change moving forward.

Another complaint people had was that it's slow moving. It's not all hack-and-slash. And they have a point. It's focused a lot less on fighting the zombies themselves and focused more on dealing with enemy factions of other survivors and the problems Harden encounters there. But despite that, I still felt like it kept up a quick pace. I don't recall ever feeling like it was going too slowly. It kept me on my toes; all I wanted was to keep reading, so it's no wonder I finished this in two days.

If you liked the first book, I'd recommend this one. It's more or less the same, but it continues the story in a satisfying way.

This book is better then the first, which is rare in a series. Couldn't put this down. Was biting my nails, grinding my teeth and pulling at my hair. We are with you Captain!
