OK, I liked this one. I did not like reading so long about Darcy's heartbreak, but it didn't seem too much..., just on that edge of too much that (thankfully) didn't go over. I would probably read this again because I did appreciate the story but I would have to think about wanting to feel Darcy's pain again before I do..., maybe if I am in need of a sad-ish story with a happy ending, I will pick it up again.

We start the story the day after the proposal of Darcy to Elizabeth at the Hunsford Parsonage and the delivery of the letter. Though this may be the first letter that Elizabeth has received, it is not the first or last that Darcy has written to Elizabeth but never posted. An accident not long after the Colonel and Darcy have left Rosings results in their return. Can this event be the start of resolving the issues between these two persons.
Liked the characters of Anne DeBough and the Colonel is this tale.
An enjoyable read.

Re-read August 2021: This is a 5-star read. I laughed too often and teared up more times than I’m comfortable admitting for this to be anything but a 5-star read. And I’m ashamed it took this long for me to figure it out.

Truly, it was perfect.

I'm at the point where I'm convinced that KaraLynne Mackrory can do no wrong when it comes to Pride and Prejudice variations. This is my third go around with this author and I'm officially calling it a hat trick because this one was another hit and I really cannot ask for anything more from them other than to keep writing these because I will without a doubt keep reading them.

This one in particular is full of letter writing; hurt feelings being poured onto parchment and then tucked into a hollow book never to see the light of day - until they do.

The plot line of writing personal and emotional letters to someone with absolutely no intention of ever sending them is not a new one. But Mackrory manages to make it enjoyable because she has mastered capturing both Lizzie and Darcy's temperaments and characters in a way that enhances what we already know and expect from them while elaborating on their thoughts and motivations so that they become even more likeable and enjoyable to read about.

I can't recommend this author enough if you're looking for a Pride and Prejudice variation to pick up.

This is a charming reimagining of P&P that gives Darcy's affections and struggles a voice in a way that compliment the original. Endlessly soothing in the current endless stress and tensions of coronavirus.

I liked the concept that Darcy wrote letters to help him deal with his feelings, and also that Elizabeth could accidentally receive them. The story was overall well written, but not a lot happened. I would have liked it better if Elizabeth had been around Darcy more. Her falling in love with him isn't quite so satisfying when they're apart the whole story, and especially without the Lydia conflict.

Oh man this book took me a few days to read but only because I had to go to that evil institution called work. The Darcy in this book is very believable and I could see the original doing this as well. All of the characters in my opinion were true to form. I enjoyed the fact that even though Lydia still eloped in this book it wasn't to Wickham at all. Actually after Wickham leaves Meryton he is not even really mentioned at except the end where we learn his fate. This book was very enjoyable to me and I'll probably read it again in the future.

Rating: 4½ stars out of 5

*edit 2/25/20 - it's still as good the second time around.
