3.7 - 4 stars. As I thought at the end of the second book, the
Spoiler pregnancy trope
has been confirmed. I'm not a fan of it, but it's okay. But back to the beginning. Seth leaves once again, though this time the reason is more understandable while also being an interesting twist in the story. Josie's fate, on the other hand, is a bit more violent. The whole first half of the book flips away quickly because you want to know what happens next. That settles down starting around the second half. It still reads well, no question, but it was just a bit calmer. What I do not find so great is that Josie almost the whole book had
Spoiler no powers.
The dialogues, especially between the friends, were again great and amusingly written and it was fun to read the book.

GERMAN
3,7 - 4 Sterne.

Original review on Julalicious Book Paradise

If you haven't read The Return or The Power, you better stop reading this now or you might get some spoilers from the previous books.

Following the previous events from The Power, Seth has left the group to protect them, or to protect Josie at least. He has yet to understand all the powers that come with being the God Killer and he doesn’t want to harm her more than he has. Heading to the only place far enough from her, he will end up learning a lot more about who he has become.

Seth’s character is probably the character that goes through the most changes in this book. He has become something he has yet to understand the extent of its power and he’s struggling a lot with the guilt of what he has done in the past. The last one isn’t new as we have been following Seth since book one and we know this issue isn’t going to solve itself easily, but it’s such a huge part of who he has become. Even if people forgave him, he had yet to reach that kind of level towards himself.

Josie’s character is going to go through a lot in this book too, both physically and mentally. Searching for Seth will end up being a lot more to handle that she probably first anticipated. An old enemy is back and he wants revenge. I will say that I really love Josie because she is genuinely a good person. She wants to protect and help the people she care about, yes, but she’s willing to risk herself to save others too. She’s always been mature, but the way she handles each situation in this book has made me love her more. The best example is that she is open to accept so much from Seth because she knows that he has so much good in him. She knows who he was and she knows who he is and she isn’t willing to give up on him. Doesn’t mean she has forgotten; it just means she knows that not everything is black and white and that he deserves a chance.

Josie and Seth are both pretty much in a learning curve versus their powers, their love and their future. It isn’t easy with Seth being protective of her and Josie wanting to prove herself and show she can take care of herself. It isn’t easy as the book progress for them to find a compromise to their problems, but they are trying their best.

The Gods as always are always cryptic and have a tendency to keep information to themselves when it could be useful to our little group, but I guess that sometimes Gods just forget that they have to trust the people they asked to save the world.

I was also glad to be reunited again with Alex, Aiden, Deacon and Luke. They are such loyal friends and I feel like Alex and Josie have become even closer in this book and I was really happy about that.

Overall, Jennifer has once again brought us through a rollercoaster of events that will leave you breathless. The ending is not actually a cliff-hanger, but it will leave you begging for the next book to see where the final book in the series will lead our heroes.

I was giving an advanced copy of this book in exchange of an honest review.

After Seth leaves Josie she is taken by Hyperion and The Titans and suffers for days. Seth luckily is able to find her and the two of them are reunited. Though because of a misunderstanding and hurt the two don't have a happy reunion right away. After working things out Aiden and Seth go to find the place where Josie was held. While they are gone, Josie discovers she is pregnant.

I'm so glad that Seth seems to finally understand that leaving Josie is not the answer. The two of them need each other especially now that they are having a child together. I loved how happy they were and how happy everyone else was for them. I can't wait to see how they face everything in the final book.

“For what the gods have feared has come to pass. The end of the old is here and the beginning of the new has been ushered in. For the sun child and the new god will give birth to a new era and the great creators will fall one by one, reshaping our homes and hearths, reaping man and mortal alike.”

“Love means you’re gong to be there for each other even when it sucks. Love means you’re going to have each other’s back and trust the other person will be there for you.”

The Struggle picks up where The Power left off. So, Seth has become the God Killer and afraid that he’s going to end up hurting Josie he leaves. We find almost immediately that there is a prophecy and that Seth is
Spoilerin fact now a god!
We also find out exactly what the repercussions of killing a Titan are because the ground cracks open right in the spot where Atlas was killed and scorched daimons begin climbing out of Tartarus. And all of this happens in the first 2 chapters! Let’s just say that this book is fast paced and you should prepare yourself for a rollercoaster ride.

I absolutely love the character development in this book, especially since Seth really comes into his own. He finally realizes that he has made some bad, and frankly stupid, decisions and what the consequences of some those decisions are. He also owns up to the mistakes that he’s made and he starts making smarter decisions. His reaction to learning a certain piece of information is just the reaction that you want for him to have, and it is everything! His relationship with Josie keeps growing and evolving and it’s such a wonderful thing to see. Speaking of Josie, that poor girl goes through hell in this book. Some of the things that she has to go through are horrific and inevitably causes her to have nightmares. But Josie wouldn’t be the awesome character that she is if she didn’t end up coming out of it stronger than before. Her love for Seth and her faith in him is incredible and even though his actions have hurt her she still fights for him and for their love. She knows what she wants and what she’s willing to accept and I love that about her.

I also loved seeing the Army of Awesome back together. Deacon, Luke, Aiden, and Alex are characters that I have loved since the Covenant series and getting to see them in this series is always fun.

This is such a fast paced and packed book that I didn’t want to put it down. I loved every second of reading it and i’m excited to read the last book in this series.

“Loving him didn’t mean I wasn’t disappointed in his choices - that those choices hadn’t hurt me. Loving him didn’t mean he could keep making those choices and I would keep forgiving him. Loving him meant that I knew from the first moment that I fell for Seth that he was complicated - that loving him wouldn’t be easy. Loving him…well, it meant that I was willing to fight for him.”

“There was always something about the way he kissed me. Like it was the first and last time. There was no hurry, no rush. If he’d never said he loved me, this kiss told me he did.”

The Struggle opens up right where we left off in [b:The Power|26125281|The Power (Titan, #2)|Jennifer L. Armentrout|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1439936107s/26125281.jpg|44738249] . Shit has hit the fan and the consequences of the actions taken place in The Power start to develop. There’s not much to say without getting too spoiler-y, but I will say this: I was a bit disappointed. I feel like this series could’ve been wrapped up in 3 books. The lack of action in this third installment bothered me. I wanted character development for Josie, and I felt like there was none. She was a damsel in distress the whole book
Spoiler(well, she did end up needing some serious saving after Hyperion kidnapped her, so…)
. And Seth...I love Seth, but he has a way of...how do I say this….he doesn’t think. His motto: “destroy now, worry about the consequences later”. You’d think that he would’ve learned by now, but hey, that’s Seth. But I will say this, he has matured, and for that, I am glad.

The Struggle was a bit of a struggle for me. In my opinion, the plot did not move forward in the aspect of getting the Titans back under control. I couldn’t find myself really caring about Josie and Seth’s predicament. And especially since JLA threw in a “twist”
Spoiler(what the hell kind of baby does a demi god and apollyan/god-killer turned actual god actually make??)
, which had me rolling my eyes, because really? For me, it throws a wrench in this whole thing.

I was a bit disappointed with The Struggle. I wanted more action! Less emotional relationship problems. But that didn’t stop me from gobbling it up in 2 days. I hope for so much more in The Prophecy. I wished there was a tiny novella recounting the behind the scenes with Alex and Aiden travelling because honestly, I want more from them. The Covenant series is a favorite and having Alex and Aiden topside in The Struggle took away from Seth and Josie. Seriously, no character or plot development. Nothing new was learned here. Sitting ducks really. However, JLA’s writing definitely helped this book out. She has a way with words that keeps me hooked.

I give it: ⭐⭐⭐

Book #3 in the titans series.
I stared reading it in the evening and I actually stayed up all night finishing the book in 1 go ! 😅
There was just so much going on and I needed answers and just wanted more!
I did expect one of the plot twist, because I know when they mention this 1 thing, 9 times out of 10 it will end with that.
But I'm okay with it! 😂
It's weird that the next book will be the last in the series and I will officially have to say goodbye to this world and these characters..
I have been reading about this world and the characters since the start of the month and it's like I'm living there now. I hope the book hangover isn't too bad..

No surprise that I bloody loved it- just like any other JLA book. I stand absolutely gobsmacked and astounded at how beautiful the character development is in these books- we've grown so much from Half-Blood, it makes me want to cry!
