I gave this book 4.5 stars. I can never seem to dislike a book that Jennifer L. Armentrout writes. I have loved every single one without fail. They just cater so well to my own personality that I can't help but love them.
I ordered this one off Amazon a couple of weeks ago and it actually came fairly quickly. I didn't even have a rush order on it or anything, it wasn't supposed to come for several more weeks so I was surprised to receive it in the mail. I for some reason deluded myself into thinking I could wait to read this book, but I ended up caving and I read it pretty quickly. A day, give or take two.
Leaving off at the end of the book I really don't know how they're going to resolve this. There aren't six demi gods left, Seth doesn't have any self control, and Josie has a tiny person growing inside of her. There are really so many directions this series can go in and it makes me a bit nervous considering Josie leaves off with the fact that she had a vision she would die.
Josie's magical power that was attributed to her being the daughter of Apollo didn't really come as a surprise. When Cora revealed to have really cool powers and Josie thought about how she herself didn't have any cool powers I knew she had to have some ability she didn't know about yet. Then when Apollo was offhandedly talking about how he was the god of prophecies, it just sort of clicked and was confirmed when she too made that discovery. I think being able to see the future is a pretty awesome, if not daunting gift.
The fact that Seth has no self control really bothers me. Everyone keeps telling him, "I don't think that's a good idea", but he's just so caught up in himself that he doesn't care that it isn't a good idea. He's justified his reckless behaviour by saying he's doing it for Josie. It's a nice sentiment and all, but it's just burying him deeper and deeper.
I can't say that I was surprised by Josie's pregnancy. There were hints pretty early on in the story, plus it was a known fact that they had unprotected sex at the end of the second book. No surprises there. I feel like I should be annoyed by the amount of "surprise pregnancy" books out there, but I'm not. I find it so entertaining, usually the reader can figure these things out before the actual pregnant lady, so it becomes this game of "when will (blank) figure out that they're pregnant". It's something I don't think I'll ever get tired of. I also think Seth would be a pretty hot dad. I mean, he'd probably give his child anything it wants and spoil the shit out of it, but I don't think he would be that bad of a dad.
A personal favourite of this book is whenever they talk about Supernatural, because that is one of my favourite tv shows. It might not be as fun for people who don't watch Supernatural because they may not understand certain references, but when you do watch the show, there are some A+ references in that novel. I like how the author integrates pop culture into her characters lives. I know some author will pretend pop culture doesn't even exist when they write their books, that's okay, but I like feeling like I'm in the know. It makes me feel a lot more comfortable with the world if I know the pop culture references.
The only complaint that I have about this book is that it felt a lot like a filler book. Sure it had a whole lotta entertaining shenanigans, but when you think about it, all the events that took place in this book was just a set up for the next book. I wish it had more of it's own story arc that didn't revolve around the next book completing it.
I question I have for the next book is, what is going on with Apollo? he's being more secretive than normal and it's driving me crazy. He's also being a pretty shitty father which seems weird because he claims to really love Josie. I feel like I'm on the outside of an inside joke.
Overall, really good book. I devoured it and I don't regret a thing. If you've loved Jennifer L. Armentrout's past novels, then I would highly suggest reading this one.

4,5 Sterne

3.5/4 stars
Whyyyyy did JLA have to make it so cheesy with Seth and Josie like she did it with Alex and Aiden?? I haaaaaaate it when they call their girlfriends "psychi mou" and "agapi mou" thas so bäähhhhghh!
The third book of this series was definitely not my favorite. I loved when Seth was alone with Alex and Aiden or just Alex. I need more Seth and Alex pleasssseeee. Ok, I am happy that Seth found happiness but I will never be on team Seth and Josie! Noup never.
Spoiler!!
Don't know what to think of that pregnancy but I love a smiling and happy Seth. Also, GOOSEBUMPS when Caleb appeared and Alex started crying!!

“For what the gods have feared has come to pass. The end of the old is here and the beginning of the new has been ushered in. For the sun child and the new god will give birth to a new era and the great creators will fall one by one, reshaping our homes and hearths, reaping man and mortal alike.”
“Love means you’re gong to be there for each other even when it sucks. Love means you’re going to have each other’s back and trust the other person will be there for you.”
The Struggle picks up where The Power left off. So, Seth has become the God Killer and afraid that he’s going to end up hurting Josie he leaves. We find almost immediately that there is a prophecy and that Seth isin fact now a god! We also find out exactly what the repercussions of killing a Titan are because the ground cracks open right in the spot where Atlas was killed and scorched daimons begin climbing out of Tartarus. And all of this happens in the first 2 chapters! Let’s just say that this book is fast paced and you should prepare yourself for a rollercoaster ride.
I absolutely love the character development in this book, especially since Seth really comes into his own. He finally realizes that he has made some bad, and frankly stupid, decisions and what the consequences of some those decisions are. He also owns up to the mistakes that he’s made and he starts making smarter decisions. His reaction to learning a certain piece of information is just the reaction that you want for him to have, and it is everything! His relationship with Josie keeps growing and evolving and it’s such a wonderful thing to see. Speaking of Josie, that poor girl goes through hell in this book. Some of the things that she has to go through are horrific and inevitably causes her to have nightmares. But Josie wouldn’t be the awesome character that she is if she didn’t end up coming out of it stronger than before. Her love for Seth and her faith in him is incredible and even though his actions have hurt her she still fights for him and for their love. She knows what she wants and what she’s willing to accept and I love that about her.
I also loved seeing the Army of Awesome back together. Deacon, Luke, Aiden, and Alex are characters that I have loved since the Covenant series and getting to see them in this series is always fun.
This is such a fast paced and packed book that I didn’t want to put it down. I loved every second of reading it and i’m excited to read the last book in this series.
“Loving him didn’t mean I wasn’t disappointed in his choices - that those choices hadn’t hurt me. Loving him didn’t mean he could keep making those choices and I would keep forgiving him. Loving him meant that I knew from the first moment that I fell for Seth that he was complicated - that loving him wouldn’t be easy. Loving him…well, it meant that I was willing to fight for him.”
“There was always something about the way he kissed me. Like it was the first and last time. There was no hurry, no rush. If he’d never said he loved me, this kiss told me he did.”

Yep, just like I thought, I'm DNFing this one... The plot is horrible (and basically non existent), the characters were bland, the romance sucked... It started to drag and I couldn't keep reading.
Oh my Gods.
I’m still kicking myself in the but for not reading this series sooner.
Seth has grown so much from the guy he once was. He has blossomed into this amazing man who is now one of my top book boyfriends!
Seth you can poof to me anytime you want!

GASP!! I cannot believe how we are left at the end of this book. I loved Seth's journey up until this point and watching Josie and Seth's relationship to grow and for Seth to realize that he is worthy of being loved. I also loved how we Alex and Aiden were apart of this book and see Seth and Aiden interact a bit more.
