The book was honestly kind of boring. For chapters nothing interesting or exciting happened. Only in the last 3 chapters of the book did actual things start happening. Also what is the point of writing 85 percent of the book focused on a relationship, past, present just for the 10 percent being that the work of getting the guy and chasing him being for nothing and the girl choosing she doesn’t want the guy and wants to focus on herself when most of the book has been about her wanting this guy and practically being obsessed with him and putting his needs above her. Oh and then after saying she didn’t want him and needed to focus on herself, she finds him again and says he is her universe in the last 2% of the book. The love story was pushed so much but nothing interesting the book really made you root for them/want them to be together. Kaylia was obsessed with Danny and held on too much on the past and wanting to be with Danny even 7 years after they last dated. Danny loved that Kaylia was obsessed with him and did the bare minimum to get her again. There were a few places where he could have stepped up, backed up and chose not to. And he proposed at the end of the book, literally the ending was him proposing. Too much happened at the end and instead of a gradual build up, it was all thrown up at the end. Kaylia and Danny also didn’t truly address anything or build a solid foundation to be getting engaged.

Wouldn’t read this book again. I hope this is not a series because it DEFINITELY does not need to be a series. Not sure how I feel about this author now and if I would read other books by her.

This was a cute, funny romcom with some actual LOL moments and plenty of prose that was heartwarming and beautifully-written!

I liked Danny a lot! And even though I wished he was more assertive, I understand that as an artist he is more likely to be expressive creatively than assertively. The way he dealt with his ex felt very passive and "womp womp" when I wanted him to fight back a little lol, but maybe I'm just messy?

I didn't care much for Kaliya. I felt like she made Danny the center of her universe in both times of her life that she encountered him, and she made the same mistake of putting him on a pedestal of sorts in her mind that made her run at the first sight of him not being who she'd decided he was in her head. Her unwillingness to communicate with him really frustrated me at times! I also didn't buy their love story in college in the sense that what they had was not intense or passionate enough (in my opinion) for them to have held out for each other that way, so the "second chance" aspect fell a little flat for me, which was a shame because I love second chance romances!

I liked Neha and Bella a lot and thought they were fun, solid friends who came alive off page!

I'm very excited to read more from Myah Ariel! Her knowledge of industry really shone through and made this an enjoyable read.

I really enjoyed this book but felt a little disconnected from the MCs. I think some of the dialogue or internal thoughts/descriptions were almost too eloquent. I felt like in the midst of a breakup, being professionally threatened, or having really great sex, no one I know speaks in beautiful metaphors or with such formal language. This is 100% just my personal preference and obviously didn’t deter me from finishing and enjoying the book, I just would’ve connected with more typical language use (or maybe I just have dumb friends and we need to up our conversational game?! Haha)

Overall, the story was great, Nathan and Minnie made my heart happy, and Neha and Bella are hysterical. Would recommend !
