I was captivated by this book from the very beginning. The characters, the storyline, and the storytelling all held my attention throughout the entire book. Miscommunication leads to complications, which are mixed with the right place at the wrong time, creating a beautiful chase that culminates in love. I highly recommend it.

When I think of You is a charming story based on gaining second chances in love. Myah Ariel did an amazing job at rekindling Kaliya and Danny’s seven year old past-relationship from college, showcasing great flashbacks, while also painting a perfect picture of their current emotions and conflicts.

I honestly enjoyed the supporting characters, Neha and Bella, so much throughout the entire book. They felt extremely relatable to the reader as far as being an outsider with a LOT of opinions on Kaliya and Danny’s long overdue romance.

The characters didn’t really get to their real “spark” moment until about 75% through the book, so you have to deal with a lot of ex-girlfriend drama for a majority of your read, which wasn’t terrible, but just dragged IRL.

Other than that, I enjoyed the author’s style! There were so many quirky moments and phrases in this book that made me laugh. I need to check out more of her books.

Are there elements in this book that generally, and typically, have annoyed me in other books? Yes. Namely The Evil Other Woman and the "Oops We Don't Have A Condom But It's Ok We're Both Clean" first sex scene.  But....

Y'all it's so good despite that. The world-building is dynamite. It just feels like LA. And the emotional heft in the story? SO GOOD! The scenes with the hero's mother are tears-leaking-out inducing and the big emotional finish when our couple reunites? Chef's kiss. A really strong, wonderful debut.

While I liked the overall story, I was frustrated with the number of times they got back together only to be like not yet. I realized they both had a lot going on but they could have eased back into things instead of being all or nothing.
However, I did enjoy the writing and would read more from this author.

(3.75) i felt like the end was a bit rushed, but i guess with all the push and pull throughout the book, it was kinda necessary to wrap it all up at once.

regardless, i was fully entertained throughout the entire book. danny was maybe forgiven too easily from the college mishaps, but even that felt realistic. well worth my time.
