This is a twisty psychological thriller that kept me guessing until the end! With a beautiful beachy setting in the Maldives, the story follows three middle-aged friends who are very different from each other, but are bonded by a common trauma.

The book opens with a gruesome murder that occurred years earlier and was never thoroughly investigated. There is just enough information to really pull you in, desperate to get a better grasp of the full picture. As the ladies enjoy their unusual vacation, we are gradually fed pieces of information until we finally learn what truly happened that day so many years ago.

I had some guesses, but I did not predict exactly how things would shake out in the end. It certainly kept me invested in the story, with my opinions of characters constantly changing and my suspicions rising. There were a few brief occasions where I struggled to keep the characters straight (it changes between several POVs), but otherwise I thought this was a great summer thriller. You can decide for yourself whether you're brave enough to bring it along on your beach vacation!
