DNF. I read more than half the book and realized I didn’t care what happened next. I workdays the Native American heritage and info I wasn’t aware of, but it wasn’t enough to carry what I felt was a slow and dry plot. It was all very real and raw but also depressing.

This didn't capture me as much as I hoped it would, but I still enjoyed it, and loved learning about Native American culture. The author recommended a bunch of literature in their author's note, so I will definitely be checking some of those out.

While the main character, Virgil, was a struggle for me to connect with, the pace of the book and the decisions of his community kept me hooked.
