Winter Counts is a face paced story that keeps you on the edge of your seat. It's a mystery set in an Native American reservation. I really enjoyed learning about tribal relationships and about life on a reservation. It's a really engaging read.
I guess I'm not in the mood for a crime novel. Maybe next time!
Excellent! I hope this becomes the first in a series.

I think this was infuriating and predictable, but in a way that enhances the story and reflects reality.
Deeply moving, beautifully written, fastidiously researched and a fast-paced, mysterious plot...this book had me flying through the pages. An absolutely incredible debut novel. Read this book and then buy it for all your friends.

Wow! A thriller on a Native American reservation. This book surprised me, I enjoyed all of the history and culture. But I will say this book is intense. There are so many triggers, I listed a few of them below (if you are curious what I mean):
Drugs, drug dealing, overdosing, gun violence, gangs, gang violence, death of a toddler, poor living conditions

I loved the incorporation of Lakota culture into the story. I liked thenmain character, Virgil, though his relationship with Marie was just weird. The pacing was a little off, but it ramped up at the end.
