As I begin reading this book, I am a little confused about what's so great in it. I mean the very first chapters read like a diary entry (with time stamps and journal entries similar to the ones in Bridget Jones's Diary) except that BJD didn't make me wonder why am I reading someone's diary entry. At this point of time, I think stardom is the only reason why anyone would be interested in the author's activities and candid conversations.

I don't like the humor in the initial chapters. But after I cross 25% of the book things get funnier. It's well written actually. Some of the jokes are cliched and forced but some are genuinely funny. And then there are a lot of incidents which are probably humorous because of the characters involved. So this book isn't a literary masterpiece and is at best a compilation of thoughts and memories but it is entertaining for a first reading and a nice chick-flick kind of stress buster for repeated readings. The language is simple but thankfully good. And the structure suspiciously looks similar to BJD and Sex and the City (which is supposedly written by a newspaper columnist and is based on her column.)

My personal takeaway: my favourite hero sounds like a good husband, father and son in the book, their son sounds pretty mature and not like a spoiled celebrity kid (apologies for the stereotype) and last but not the least, I liked the way the author has been shown as a woman who juggles between her work, her kids and the zillions of work that come upon her. Basically she isn't someone who comfortably relies on her husband for stuff and that's a comforting thing to read about.

Mrs. Funnybones, wow, where to start with this one. A friend suggested me this years ago and I had it on my bookshelf for months now. To be honest, it doesn't offer anything new. But, maybe it's not written to do that, it creates a genre of its own for me, observational writing one may day. It just takes us through everyday story of an Indian working mother of two, how she manages her work and go on putting a smile with religious rituals she sees no point in. It's a fun read honestly, starts with little everyday stories and I really like how it ends. It's like the curtains are closing in and you part ways with the lead character that you have found a connection to.

A very funny and sassy book! Quick read that will be most ideal when you want to lighten up the mood. Her use of language and how humour arises out of it is quite a joy in itself.

let me say this first, Twinkle khanna has nailed it in her debut novel. The writing is funny, witty and hilarious. The book has chaptors from A to Z. The chapters are small and the language is easy. sometimes it gives us feeling of reading her diary.

We get insights of her life. we get to see how she is a strong independent women who is doing a business, writing a blog and simultaneously managing her house. she is strong yet cant say no to her mother. how she is a ordinary mother who changes diapers of her child.

Her observations of people are really good and we all must have seen similar people in our lives as well. She has talked about many social issues in a very light and fluffy way which sometimes get ignored.

A really fun, light and fast paced read which will definitely make you laugh.
