Peter Nimble is a 10-year-old orphan boy who has trained to be a thief. The catch is, he's blind. One day, Peter robs a hatmaker only to discover that his loot contains three pairs of magical eyes. After putting on the first pair of eyes, he is transported to a magical journey over seas and through deserts and eventually to the Vanished Kingdom were he meets a knight. Together they embark on a unforgettable adventure.

I liked this story. It was like an old-fashioned fairy tale and Peter Nimble is quite a lovable character, not soon to be forgotten.

One of the best middle grade fantasy novels I’ve read in a long time. I can’t believe it took me nearly 15 years to discover this book.
Peter is a blind orphan who survives by thieving and using his incredibly sharp sense of smell. After a daring heist, he’s launched into a quest to rescue a vanished kingdom. Along the way, he meets a cast of hilarious and magical characters, including his sidekick Sir Tode—a part-cat, part-horse creature with the heart of a knight.
This story is fast-paced and packed with adventure. The worldbuilding is imaginative and vivid, brought to life through clever writing and Peter’s unique sensory perspective. I devoured this one in just a few sittings and can’t wait to dive into the rest of The Vanished Kingdom series!

I THOROUGHLY enjoyed this book. With an amazing, fantastical, and strange cast of characters that go on an even stranger adventure , Peter Nimble and His Fantastic Eyes is one of my favorite books ever. Read it when I was seven and now again at 11. The one thing is that
at the end, Peter regains his sight. When I was younger, I didn’t think much of it. But now it seems to me and many other people that reviewed this book that this sort of cancels out the celebration of disabilities like blindness that accompanied Peter and his friends all throughout the story. Despite this trope,
I still loved it and it is a great read for ages 10+, as there is
a lot of death and some child abuse.
