This book has my heart. It was so near a 5 star book for me.
Grace is such a well written complicated character. Sometimes I feel like people write characters who have experienced trauma and don’t think about how that all later reflects in their actions and decision making but everything about Grace was perfect.
Beyond the fact this book touches on a topic rarely talked about in Hollywood, even with the #metoo movement and is still an even rarer topic is literature, the story of Grace being a child star, groomed by the man who founded her career and then left her to deal with the shattered pieces of her life, I’m so utterly touched with how well this book dealt with such a complex issue.
I absolutely loved Grace and the complexity of the relationships with Esme, Dylan, Laurel, Emilia and her parents. There were times I wanted to strangle her but knowing the trauma she’d experienced, her reactions and choices were all logical to her character.
I’m a little disappointed that we didn’t see actual justice served to Able but the epilogue and seeing Grace happy kinda makes up for it. Plus, I feel like it’s very realistic for criminal charges to be up in the air still and no real justice having been served still a year later
So glad I stumbled upon this book in my library’s catalogue because I don’t think it’s something I would have picked up otherwise.
