Was bleibt: Viel Esoterik.

Despite parts of the book coming across as culty, and despite the fact that I am horrified that she ripped pages out of books, the core approach here is a good one: Focus on what you want to keep, not on what should be discarded. Making an instinctive positive choice about things you love is easier than hemming and hawing with guilt about discarding a perfectly good item. I donated three bags full of clothes and it’s so much nicer not feeling those “shoulds” hanging over me each time I open my drawer. I’m excited to move onto the other categories!

Anyone who knows me knows I'm already quite a tidy person who is regularly getting rid of things. I do think the idea of a mass purge of anything that doesn't "spark joy" is a fantastic way to get on target, and there are a lot of great lessons to be had, but in the end, the book has not really introduced any new concepts. I have changed how I put laundry away, but her ideas that if you layer clothes horizontally, the things under get neglected and not used... again doesn't quite apply to me, as I always put my cleaner laundry on the bottom in order to keep things cycling.

I picked up some good ideas and the book was actually pretty funny, although that may not have been intentional.
