“The facts always repulsed me, but now I understand a hunger that vanquishes morality.”

[Paraphrased from Goodreads]
17-year-old Mina, from England, arrives in New Orleans to visit her estranged sister, Libby. She can't wait to explore the city's darkest secrets... And it gets even better when Mina lands a part-time job at a horror movie mansion and meets Jared, Libby's gorgeous housemate. But the perfect summer bliss is broken when, while exploring the mansion, Mina stumbles upon the body of a girl with puncture marks on her neck, clutching a lock of hair that suspiciously resembles Libby's... Someone is replicating New Orleans' most brutal supernatural killings. Mina must discover the truth and prove her sister's innocence before she becomes the victim of another myth.

I love a good YA/grade horror story! There’s something so fun, light, and bloody refreshing about them. Mina and the Undead is a YA story filled with vampires that’s actually quite gruesome at some points.

I am gagged.

This was so good! Such a fun, fast-paced YA murder mystery. It reads just like a 90s slasher flick and the reveals at the end had me literally GASPING!

I love all the 90s references and the references to Interview with the Vampire, Buffy, the Lost Boys etc. It’s like a 90s horror version of Ready Player One in that regard.

The characters all felt very fleshed out and believable - I am really looking forward to seeing more of them in the next book!

Great premise, containing favourite themes and locations - but disjointed and nonsensical in practice.

Wow I absolutely adored this! The atmosphere and aesthetic was *chefs kiss*! It was so creepy and spooky but also nostalgic! It definitely kept me on my toes and I did NOT expect that ending! But it was absolutely perfect!! All the vampy vibes! All the mystery! Absolutely gripping!

Super sad I didn't like this more. It felt very YA in relation to the romance and the mystery. A lot of very convenient circumstances. The relationship was very insta-lovey... still interested in continuing the series, but overall a bit sad.
