Holy fuck this book is crazy!!
i went in knowning nothing lmao, i cannot believe i just picked this book up at the library😧

lemme just saw i am completely blown away by the monochromatic illustrations!

Alienation takes place in the year 2054 and is filled with fantastic satire!
But be warned, it is gross. Also mogg is literally in this book!!😃

This exploration of a near-future is neither utopian or dystopian according to those living in it. The technology offers a utopian escapism and reality is a dystopian hellscape. I hope this is not where we are headed but this book made me think about technology’s role in todays society.

very grim, bizarre, and disturbing, which isn’t necessarily bad but at times made for an unpleasant reading experience. conceptually fascinating but the plot felt underdeveloped and unclear so the sci-fi elements didn’t get to fully shine. also, some of the art just looked lazy.

My thoughts on this aren't super complex tbh - it's a really cool format for looking at what future life might be like and I enjoyed it a lot. Often speculative/sci fi stuff postulates that we'll live in the Arctic without acknowledging the cultures who already live there, so I appreciated this aspect a lot.
