I sped through this! Had some heavy, sad moments but it made the highs more lovely

Truly heartbreakingly beautiful.
I've cried, I've laughed, I've been to anxious to read the next chapter, I've been unable to put the book down. Abby Jimenez is one of a kind. Spectacular. The book had me still waiting for a plot twist but everything made sense. It wasn't some random miscommunication instead of an interesting realistic plot.
The third act break up wasn't just for fun and drama, it's all just heartbreakingly human.

Thank you Abby for making a  truly delightful books that doesn't feel like random tropes strung together in lew of an actual story. You can tell she has a personal connection to a story a little similar to this. It's just comes of so loving, truly like a friend talking about someone they love, worry and care about. Like if Kristen was the one writing about Sloan. I'm truly afraid to peek up the next book, I don't know what to do when I'll be all caught up.

This broke me and I spent the last hour of the audiobook with tears streaming down my face.
Would recommend.

Nice story overall. Touched on grief in a delicate way, and showcases how it can be difficult to move on.

“You can’t control the bad things that happen to you. All you can do is decide how much of you you’re going to let them take.”

We met Sloan and her fiancé in the first book of this series. When the unspeakable happened, Sloan was adrift, shutting down, and pushing away help from her friends. Now two years later, on the way to an appointment, a dog running loose in traffic might have just saved her life. After two weeks with Tucker, said runaway, she’s determined to keep him and make him hers, whoever let him run loose doesn’t deserve him. Tucker’s owner finally reaches out, explains his situation, and promises that he will retrieve his lost pup, and wants to take her to dinner as a way of apology and to meet this wonderful woman to whom he’s been talking.

This book helped me. Its kept me present in a time of trial, and if you have a thought of reading Abby Jimenez, this would be a great series to start with.

The first half. Call me a big old mush but I feel like fate is real. The dog. The way they found each other, especially Sloan, navigating her grief. I do realize there was a lot of codependency, and I do realize it’s unhealthy, but I also realize I’m so codependent so it was kinda relatable lol. You know when everything is going so perfect at 60%, what the heck could happen? Well, it happened. And it happened ALL THE WAY TIL THE END. the reason this wasn’t a full 5 stars for me, is the way the ups/down happened for so long, and yes sometimes that is real life. And then the ending was SO SUDDEN?
I felt so bad for Lola. I felt so bad for Sloan. I felt so heart broken for Jason. She definitely should’ve made him work a little harder after upturning her entire life. I wanted more good in between the ending & epilogue.
