This book started off so slow... The First half was just to show the Nina was crazy. Once we see Nina's POV the story definitely picks up

Easily one of the best books I’ve read. The pace was perfect and the twists were excellent!

Finally jumped into the housemaid series and absolutely loved it! The nice short chapters made it very quick read and kept me hooked throughout.

I love how the characters develop and shift throughout this book which really change up the dynamic of the plot - particularly with the dual POVs and parts.

Nina’s behaviour in the first part of the book really set me on edge and the shift in POV really brought a whole new dimension to her character which made her a character I loved to hate - to one that I felt so sorry for.

I enjoy Friedas writing style a lot and the unraveling of the twists. I will say, whilst some of the plot points were a bit predictable in places, I enjoyed how they were written regardless and didn’t dampen my enjoyment in it.

I had predicted that Andrew would be twisted in some way though not to the extent that this book goes into - I mean the gaslighting sure and locking the women in the attic? Sure - but getting them to pull their own hair out and torture themselves … nope didn’t expect that!

I am loving the premise of this book and will be looking to dive into the next instalment soon!

The Housemaid (The Housemaid Book 1)
Rating : ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the first thriller I have read in quite a while, and I genuinely feel like it was the perfect reintroduction to the genre. It was a fast paced, edge of your seat read. I won't say too much because I don't want to give any spoilers, but this book had me trying to figure out how it was going to end the whole time. It had so many reveals, twists, and turns that I was constantly thinking of different scenarios and avenues the plot could take, as well as possible outcomes/ending to the novel. I did find some of the plot a smidgen predictable, but it was still extremely enjoyable. I found the ending to be the perfect set-up to book 2, which I will absolutely be reading! If you are looking for an easy mystery/thriller this is it!

What a disappointment. It’s too similar to "The Last Mrs. Parrish" (which I much preferred and which was released first and much better overall) and it’s also too similar to “The Wife Between Us” (also basically a copy of The Last Mrs. Parrish by the way). You can tell exactly what the twist is from the beginning if you have read any of the two books.

I really disliked this book/the characters but also couldn’t put it down???! Like I HAD to know what happened next. All the characters are extremely unlikeable and make very stupid stupid decisions that made me want to throw a book at their head. The main character possesses almost 0 survival instinct despite spending 10 years in prison. If you like Lifetime dramas/thrillers, you will like this book.
