This is one of those audiobooks you can listen to at 1.75 or even 2x speed and not be annoyed with it which was good because I desperately wanted to know what the twist would be.

I enjoyed this as an easy read thriller/mystery, but there were definitely aspects that annoyed me. I could never really figure out if the narrator was supposed to be aware of the reader (breaking the fourth wall) or not, and it felt like it was trying to create a creepy atmosphere but wasn't committing all the way so it was just thin. The plotting was very well done and I really appreciated the little bits of foreshadowing I was able to recognize in hindsight. Parts II and III were especially excellent! The plot twist was the perfect balance of predictable and not where I sort of felt it coming about 50 pages out, meaning it was indeed plausible, but it wasn't just completely obvious. I read the entire novel in about 2.5 hours so clearly I was engrossed in the plot, it just didn't satisfy me enough as a reader to warrant a full 4 stars.

I liked this book and look forward to continuing with the series. This story had many twists and turns and I could not really predict the outcome. My major gripe in the story was there was not one likable character. Not. One.  I also felt the ending was a bit rushed and seemed pretty unrealistic.
