This book (and the whole series) was unlike what I normally read. The language took a little bit to adjust to, but honestly this whole book was such a vibe. The book kept me guessing the whole time.
I’m so glad that Cardan and Jude got their happy ending
This series and the Powerless series were ultimately a great introduction to reading fantasy. Enemies to lovers is my favorite trope, and this series executed it perfectly. However, it should be noted that the romance is very much a sub-plot to the story. Most of it follows Jude as she climbs up the rankings in Faerie.

To be honest, I felt the story lost some of its momentum, though this might be because I rarely have the stamina for the third book in a series. The protagonist was a bit annoying in this installment, mainly because she seemed to have a constant negative outlook, making her appear very destructive. Additionally, I was bothered by how the female roles were overly emphasized, whereas the main male character portrayed as especially incompetent in comparison. For me, this series could have easily worked as a duology.

Reread : this trilogy gives me the biggest fucking hangover ever. What a ride. I wish I could just read it again.

I'm upset its over, fuck wicked king was still the best book of the three, but damn if I didn't love this ending.
