Some good bits but it felt rushed and abruptly finished, even for a novella.

I quite liked this story. It was light of tone if heavy on the rugby terms (of which I had as much knowledge as Robin) which made it easy to read.

I'm a big fan of rugby. I've been calling it the gayest sport for years. lol. I love this book, the characters and the plot. But, as much as I loved everyone in this book, I do think that it ended too soon. I would have liked to see the introduction to the team and maybe a little more after that, but it didn't lessen the story for me. I guess I just liked it too much to let it end.

Robin is not what one would call a rugby fan. But when his friend Sebastian drags him out and he sees the new player, Yves, Robin is totally in love with the game. Or, at least, the player. Their eyes seem to meet often, and Yves is all smiles. Which leaves Robin wondering if that smile is specifically for him or if it's all in his head. And he really, really hopes it's not all in his head...

This is an entertaining short story that would certainly hit the spot for those who like the athlete-fan romance. There are all of the elements that you might expect. And then there are a couple of unexpected twists that are likely to leave readers wanting more...

3.5*
another fun, light LHNB tale.
Despite his friend Sebastian trying to set him up with his cousin, Robin is determined to chase own his dream man, new rugby star Yves -and learn all there is to know about rugby too!
Fun flirty and dirty! And guess who Sebastian's cousin really is?

16.10.16 reread : do like this one - enough rugby, enough flirtation, enough future promise to make a good short story.

14.12.17 reread : one to jump at rereading when it came up in a challenge, I do like it a lot!

28.12.18 reread : do enjoy this one, like the rugby and the slow approach to Robin and Yves meeting.

Oh, that was a right rousing rugby romp! Loved it...even though I know naught about rugby!

Robin's inner musings had me chuckling throughout! :) One of my favourite lines: "At "ish" past three..." had me laughing out loud! At Sebastian's first "eh",
SpoilerI knew who his cousin was - it's a Canadian thing :) -
but knowing just added to my enjoyment of watching Robin get there! Most entertaining!

For a short story this took a long time to get into.

I enjoyed the idea of a rugby story, which I don't see often. I liked the pacing of Robin being attracted to Yves and eventually approaching him. The story was slightly predictable
in that I was able to work things out regarding Robin's best friend
, but it was enjoyable none the less.

Sweet, good on the sports facts, but otherwise kind of... forgettable. Literally. I completely forgot I read this already while looking at in the kindly store. It took me another review to realize which story it was and when I read it.

So, yeah. Nice, and after being reminded of the characters I rembered the story again, but the fact that I forgot the MCs and their story in the first place? Not impressing. So, according to GR standards, that would be 2 stars. Okay, but nothing more.

A sweet m/m short that doesn't try to cover too much ground.
