ok I liked her hyper drive for her son. I think that the people confronted to that are kind of heroes in their ways.
but her her drive was boarding on over-self-slapping.
the sex scene came as a hair on the soup (French expression). like "oh s**t I forgot the sex scene let's see if I can squeeze it here!" I found it totally inappropriate and useless.
And well because it's a Harlequin it has to be HEA for everyone and I found it unrealistic, not that I was hoping for the gruesome details of a painful death or anything but... bref

I started this book a long time ago, and paused it. I finally started it again, and I’m glad I finally got to it. It was kind of average, but it was enjoyable, and it was a really fast read.

I’ve found that Mallery’s books are really fast, easy reads, and that’s really nice. This one wasn’t very smutty at all, but focused on the romance and the main plot, which was Kerri’s son’s sickness. I liked the characters relationships with each other, their growth, even if I didn’t get particularly attached to the characters. I did like the scientist and his girlfriend, too, though.

The ending was nice, even if a bit unrealistic. Overall, this was a pretty good book; I enjoyed it, I liked how quickly it went by. I’ll be picking up another of her books, when I get the chance.

I spent the last two days being pricked, poked, scanned and anything else the doctor could think to do to me. I appreciate all the checking - I would like to feel better, but it left me brain dead. I am not sure how I finished the novel I read before this.

This romance was a bit over the top in my opinion, but happily ever after includes no death on the present stage. So miracles abounded in this quick read.

Mallery did do what I wanted. She was entertaining and made me laugh. It was well worth suspending my disbelief.

As always, I recommend Susan Mallery to those who want their romances contemporary, light and amusing.

When I started this book and found out that is was about a mother (Kerri Sullivan) who's son has a terminal disease I wasn't sure I was going to be able to read it.. because I'm a very emotion person. But I figured I would give it a shot and kept ready. I was immediately drawn in by Kerri's determination and witty remarks. She is definitely not afraid to speak her mind. She is determined to get millionaire Nathan King to donate money to the research company that is working on the cure. Kerri initially thinks it will be easy to get him to agree because his son had the disease and passed away from it. My initial reaction to Nathan was that he was the stereotypical millionaire, he doesn't care about anything. I think some of it has to do with losing a child, cause after going through something so hard why would you want to let anyone else in?

As I was reading the book I found myself laughing at the banter back and forth between Kerri and Nathan. She is so open and honest, while he is serious and very closed off. It made for some interesting conversations. I've been blessed with a healthy child, but while reading wondered if that was really how parents felt.. that if they put their own life on hold and essentially stopped living that their child would in turn be able to live.

This book was a nice balance between happy times and emotional times. I enjoyed it and look forward to reading more from this author.

Lots of ethical problems with billionaires. Very American dream of this cis white man.
Also, trigger warning for lots of sick child content- huge emotional weight.
Last note, lots of God talk. Faith plays a big role, etc.

As a mom with a child with a disease that can progress, I can understand how Kerri felt. My child won't die, but she will lose her ability to walk. Just recently we were told she is progressing. Our first time being told this. She is 11. As mothers, we would do anything to save our children. There is research being done now in the disease my daughter as. I hope they can have answer or a cure before my daughter gets worse.

I love this book. Susan Mallery wrote it perfectly. I knew that Kerri & Nathan would find their way to each other, but I was not sure how the book would end for Cody.

A must read!

I just cried my way through this whole book while alternately laughing at Kerri. I love that she's strong, kooky and determined to save her son.
