I definitely enjoyed this book more than The Zahir and really liked the ending. Athena, the main character of the book, was definitely a complex character and I liked how her complexity was consistent. The only simplicity she had was that she just loved. She didn't give it a reason or any type of definition... she loved because she did and that was it.
Although the theme seemed to be about love in the end... I have to say that what really stood out and what became my favorite lines in the book were: "Anyone who believes they have failed will always fail. Anyone who has decided that they cannot behave any differently will be destroyed by routine. Anyone who has decided to block all changes will be transformed into dust. Cursed be those who do not dance and who prevent others from dancing!"
I definitely recommend this book.

I think this is a hate it or love it book.
And I'm one of the people who the book wasn't able to convince.
I decided to not go on and read it further, as it really couldn't catch my attention at all. Which is a pitty, I really loved manuscript found in Acra, and also enjoyed Veronika decides to die.. However, The devil and the girl and Alaph couldn't please me either. Although the devil and the girl was oke-ish..
I think it has something to do with only trying to give a message and forgetting that a book also needs to have some sort of plot...
I still have a few of his books, but I must say, I'm not sure if I will be able to finish them.. We will see. For now, this month: non of his books anymore.

3.5/5 Different than I expected but it was interesting and, like The Alchemist, helped me view a few thing’s differently.
God, love and the similar of things that we consider as nouns, aren't nouns at all, they are verbs.
Love simply is.
Love simply is.

Paulo Coelho can be a hit or miss with me, I struggled with some of his books and find them completely absurd but some I enjoy immensely and find them super profound.
This one, really really enjoyed and probably takes the spot of my favorite one from his catalogue above Brida, which was a loooong standing favorite for most of my life. I love Athena and her conviction and zest for life and how all the characters are so entranced by her, loved the mystery of her boyfriend and the ending.
I enjoyed it immensely and while yes it totally is pop spirituality, as many of his books, this one felt a little lighter and fun but still a strong message of self discovery without being overly preachy or out there!

I got 13 pages in and just couldn’t read anymore. I was trying to get myself to get through it but I couldn’t. Reading is suppose to be enjoyable and I just wasn’t into this book. I’ve read The Alchemist twice (same author) and enjoyed it both times. I was hoping this book was going to be the same way. I didn’t think it would be fair to myself to force myself to read it.
Este es un libro muy interesante sobre la búsqueda interior y el poder sobrenatural, es entretenido y genera una continua necesidad de leer para saber en que termina todo, porque uno no sabe para donde va la trama hasta que resulta un desenlace muy interesante.
